About the Author:

The LION HOUSE, originally built in the 1850s as a residence for President Brigham Young and his family, has served for decades as a venue where good food served in a historical setting creates memorable occasions. From the Lion House Pantry to the children’s party room, the decor and ambiance invite visitors to understand and cherish our pioneer heritage.
The delicious, made-from-scratch dishes that have been the hallmark of the Lion House’s menus are enjoyed by visitors from all over the world. The building itself was listed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks in 1964 and continues to be a favorite gathering place of dignitaries, families, and anyone who appreciates home-cooked food served with a smile.

In my opinion:
I enjoyed looking through and reading Dining with the Prophets. It was neat to read about the prophet's favorite dishes. It was also really fun to see what my Great, Great, Great Grandfather's favorite  recipe was (Wilford Woodruff). He liked Cherry Nut Cake "which appeared in an issue of the Woman's Exponent during his administration. Cherries have been grown in Utah since pioneer days. The cherry was designated as the official state fruit in 1997." My favorite story was from Harold B. Lee. He liked cheese with pretty much everything even with a white cake. I loved learning a little bit more about each Prophet.

Also included were pioneer recipes and Lion House Signature recipes. I'm excited to try Cream of Corn Soup, Fried Scones, Lion House Dinner Rolls, Cold Chicken Salad Croissants and Carrot Cake.

I was impressed with Deseret Book and the way they formatted Dining with the Prophets. The layout and design was well presented and the pictures were perfect. I definitely recommend Dining with the Prophets-Historic recipes from the Lion House.
