Girls who Choose God {Written by Tiffany}

Coming out shortly is a very good read for the whole family, but especially girls. It’s a short and simple, yet powerful read about the impact girls and women can have from choosing God.

With beautiful illustrations, Girls Who Choose God shares stories of courageous women from the Bible. It invites young readers (and those who love young readers) to make important choices of their own, following examples of great women in the scriptures.  Book Description:
From Eve to Esther, from the Samaritan woman at the well to the widow with her two mites, many women in the Bible have made courageous choices. All through the ages, women have chosen to help, to solve problems, to stand up for others, to strengthen families, and to follow God no matter what. Girls Who Choose God invites young readers (and those who love them) to make important choices of their own, following the examples of great women in the scriptures. With breathtaking illustrations, beautifully told stories, and insightful discussion questions, this delightful book is perfect for sharing, reading aloud, and drawing children into the scriptures.

In my opinion:

I reviewed “Girls Who Choose God” by McArthur Krishna and Bethany Brady Spalding. This was an illustrated book with stories of courageous women from the Bible. My girls loved this book! And so did I!! We enjoyed reading stories of women in the Bible, who we often don’t hear about.

My favorite part of the book was that it emphasized the importance of making choices.  My daughters thrive on having the opportunity to make choices! I’ll ask them, “Do you want to wear the red shirt or blue?” “Do you want cereal or toast for breakfast” They feel empowered when making choices. This concept was emphasized in these stories. For instance, in the section about Mahlah and her sisters, the authors asked the readers, “The sisters had a choice to make. They could get angry and complain OR they could take their concerns to Moses.”  Then they asked the readers to apply this to their lives, “When have you chosen to solve a problem peacefully?” This was engaging and provided discussion with my daughters. Not to mention that Kathleen Peterson did a remarkable job illustrating these stories! They are colorful and beautiful.

I recommend this book to parents who want to teach their children about stories of women who made courageous choices. This would also be a good resource for scripture study as well as Family Home Evening lessons.

Disclaimer: I received one or more of the products or services for free in the hope that I would mention them on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
