How can you help your family to be “Heart Healthy?”

What does that mean???

Well, this is an interesting question. If you haven't heard, my daughter started the Ketogenic diet around February 12th. The diet is to treat her infantile spasms which is a severe form of seizures. Luckily, it has worked (knock on wood) for three weeks now but who is counting. The diet is a formula right now since she is only eight months old. Later on, I'll create her meals that my Dietitian gives me. Every day, I measure water, KetoCal formula and Enfamil formula, mix and use for 24 hours. She eats every three hours. So, the funny thing about the diet is that it is high in fat. How is that healthy? Well, it works so I'm not bothered by it. When I was in the hospital, I had the opportunity to eat from the hospital cafeteria. I ate really well because other people made the food for me. Otherwise, I'm not extremely healthy. But, I'm not a terrible eater. I guess, I listen to my body and not overdo it. It is important to eat from each of the food groups. I try and choose good food for my family meals.

The best part about staying "Heart Healthy" is that the
American Heart Association has Certified Recipes. Thank goodness!!! So, there is always help when needed.
