check out this awesome and creative knitting book.

About:

What could be cuter than a kid in a zebra hat? How about a baby in a cupcake hat? Or an adult in a beehive hat complete with little knitted bees on top? These imaginatively adorable hats are super fun to wear, and thanks to the down-to-earth instruction of master knitter Lynne Rowe, they're easy to make, too!

Whimsical Hats features 30 easy-to-follow patterns for quirky knitted hats . . .

These mini works of art are guaranteed to bring a smile to the face of the knitter, the wearer, and anyone else who catches a glimpse of them. Completed hats resemble fun things like:
A witch, alien, or monster
An owl, chick, or dinosaur
A mouse, octopus, or punk rocker
A sunflower, ladybug, or bumblebee
A crown, Viking helmet, or pirate hat
    . . .and much more!
With gorgeous photography, an overview of essential tools, and clear step-by-step instructions, Whimsical Hats is an ideal guide for knitters of any level. Each pattern includes sizing for babies, toddlers, children, and even adventurous adults—so no one will be without a whimsical hat to keep their noggins happy and warm.

Take a look inside...

In my opinion:
The first thing I love to do when I receive a new knitting book is to read the introduction. I love hearing the author's knitting story. This time Lynne Rowe's story was similar to my knitting experience. I too love designing new knitting patterns.  And believe me...her book does have "cute, fun, and quirky" hats. I have loved knitting since the beginning when my grandmother taught me how to knit a simple (yeah right) Christmas stocking. The sock was my first knitting project and I completed it. Years later I now knit for people all over the United States. It is my passion and I'm so glad I have another fun book to use my knitting skills on.
There were many creative patterns in Whimsical Hats. The photos were delightful and captured beautiful toddlers in their new hat. The book is divided in many different sections including Just plain wacky, Rhymes and tales, Celebrate in style, Dress up and Knitted Monsters. I thought the Beehive hat was super cute but I think I'll knit just the bees for my son to play with. Since Halloween is coming up, I thought the Zebra, Pirate and Ladybird (I mean Ladybug in the US) were fun for dress up time. My daughter is going to be a Ladybird for Halloween so I may just knit that delightful hat. I also liked the Witch hat for a later costume.
Also, I liked how the Techniques and equipment was in the back of the book. The reason I like that is because it is close to the index so if I have any questions everything is close together. Call me weird but the layout of books is important to me. With that being said, I loved the page after the Introduction titled, "Project Selector." There are pictures of each hat with the page number underneath. Genius! Overall, I was pretty impressed with Lynne Rowe's style of knitting. She was creative and put a lot of thought into each design. I applaud her!!!
One of my fabulous readers will win a copy of Whimsical hats by Lynne Rowe.
